Rønne Harbour selected as service hub by VBMS
Rønne Harbour has been selected as service hub, when around 220 people from Dutch VBMS will be working off shore while setting up the Arkona Wind project.
From April to September 2018 different types of specialized vessels will be laying the foundations for ocean cables for the Arkona Wind project – 35 kilometers north east from the German Rugen-peninsula. When the project kicks off, Rønne Harbour will act as service hub.
That is clear after the naval department at Rønne Harbour was paid a visit by the project organization at VBMS.
“Last year VBMS paid us a short visit. They experienced how our service oriented and flexible organization and naval industries work. That opened up their eyes for the potential gained in working together with us, says Ulla Kiersgaard, Manager of Business Development at Rønne Harbour.
Smart infrastructure, fair prices and flexible services
According to the project manager at VBMS, Emile van der Heide it was especially the well-working infrastructure and the efficient service level that caught their interest:
“When working in the first stage of our cable installations, we discovered the great logistical advantages that Bornholm, and in particular Rønne, have to offer.
The good flight- and ferry connections, accommodations and a hospital close by made Rønne an obvious choice. Our experience is that both the management at Rønne Harbour, BHS and the motor repair shop at Sydhavnen will be helpful in assisting us on short notice – and in this industry reliability, dependability and service are key.
